Chris Trosin To Lead BAP Business Development

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) is pleased to announce that Chris Trosin is joining GAA as vice president of business development for GAA’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) division.

Mr. Trosin’s first day is Jan. 3, and he is working out of GAA’s Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA, office. He has 10 years of seafood experience and comes to GAA from nearby High Liner Foods (USA) Inc., where he worked in the company’s retail division and held the roles of both vice president of sales and vice president of sales and marketing. High Liner is a leading North American value-added frozen seafood company headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Mr. Trosin has 30 years of food industry experience. Prior to High Liner, he served as vice president of national sales for Harry & David Wholesale in Medford, Oregon, USA. He has also worked for Lindt & Sprungli (USA) Inc., Spectrum Brands Inc. and Alberto Culver.

As BAP’s vice president of business development, Trosin will lead BAP’s market development team, which is responsible for the growth of BAP-certified facilities in the marketplace and for supporting retail and foodservice companies that endorse BAP, the world’s most comprehensive third-party aquaculture certification program. More than 120 retail and foodservice companies worldwide are publicly committed to sourcing seafood responsibly from more than 1,500 BAP-certified processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills.

“We are delighted that Chris will be joining the GAA team as the VP of BAP business development,” said GAA Executive Director Wally Stevens. “Chris’s experience in the sales and marketing of branded products is a great fit for the expansion of the BAP third party certification program.”

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to be associated with such a progressive organization as GAA,” said Trosin. “I look forward to working with the GAA team in concert with our partners toward building a more responsible and sustainable future in seafood.”
