Walmart’s Michael Berto Joins GSA Board of Directors

The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) is pleased to announce that Michael Berto has joined its board of directors, the nonprofit organization announced on Jan 19.

Berto is the merchandising director for frozen seafood at Walmart US. He has been with Walmart for more than six years in multiple roles in the meat department, managing multiple protein categories. Prior to Walmart, he spent time working in the meat industry. Michael is a graduate of Texas A&M University with degrees in animal science and meat science.

“We’re delighted that Michael has agreed to join our board of directors,” said GSA CEO Brian Perkins. “Michael brings a lot of experience in retail protein, and Walmart has been a longtime supporter of our nonprofit organization and our Best Aquaculture Practices certification program. His contributions to the board will be invaluable.”

GSA has added seven new members to its 24-member board of directors in the past three years.
