GAA Exhibiting, Presenting At Vietfish 2014

vietfish2014The Global Aquaculture Alliance is exhibiting at the Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish 2014) at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from Aug. 6 to 8.

Hosted by the Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and organized by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the annual exhibition features nearly 200 exhibitors and more than 30,000 visitors from around the world.

Exhibitors and visitors alike are invited to drop by GAA booth No. 908 for information on the organization and its Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program.

In addition to exhibiting, GAA is participating in the conference program and presenting an award to three Vietnamese companies for their commitment to the BAP program. Minh Phu Seafood Group, Stapimex Group and UTXI Aquatic Products Processing Group are being recognized with GAA’s “Commitment to Excellence” award for their dedication to responsible aquaculture and the BAP program. All three companies are among the six companies qualified to offer four-star BAP shrimp, denoting that the companies’ shrimp processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills are BAP certified.

The awards ceremony will take place during the exhibition’s welcome reception in the convention center on Aug. 6, at around 7 p.m. The awards will be presented by Carson Roper, BAP’s international business development manager.

Also at Vietfish 2014, GAA is participating in the Aug. 7 conference program. Peter Redmond, BAP’s VP of market development, and Ken Corpron, BAP’s Asia-Pacific coordinator, will lead a seminar titled “BAP Certification and Market Opportunities” in meeting room No. 4 of the convention center from 2 to 5 p.m. All exhibitors and visitors are invited to attend.

Also representing GAA at Vietfish 2014 is Jane Bi, BAP’s market development manager for Asia, and Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, who works with BAP-certified facilities in Vietnam on behalf of GAA.

GAA will return to Ho Chi Minh City from Oct. 7 to 10 for its GOAL 2014 conference. MARD and VASEP are among the conference’s sponsors.
