Hero Supermarket Endorses BAP, BSP Certification Programs

One of Indonesia’s largest retailers has endorsed the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) and Best Seafood Practices (BSP) certification programs, the Global Seafood Alliance announced on December 11.

Founded in 1971, Hero Supermarket has evolved into a leading modern retail company, holding fast to its business philosophy of providing different shopping experiences with added value to the people of Indonesia. Hero offers an excellent shopping experience with a large assortment of high-quality products, fresh local products, exclusive international brands and excellent customer service.

Hero Supermarket is the second Indonesia retailer to endorse the BAP certification program in the past month, as GSA continues to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia. Through this collaboration, Hero Supermarket is committed to working with the GSA to ensure its seafood products are sourced from BAP- and BSP-certified producers for added assurances and product traceability.

“The Global Seafood Alliance appreciates the opportunity to align with Hero Supermarket to advance GSA’s commitment to responsible seafood at the retail level,” said Denise Gurshin, GSA’s Senior Director of Market Development. “Hero Supermarket has a business philosophy to be a trusted modern retail store offering a wide range of high-quality products for the Indonesia market. Their philosophy is a natural link to the BAP and BSP programs and the GSA’s vision of a world that embraces the role of responsible seafood in meeting global nutritional needs. We look forward to seeing BAP and BSP products on Hero Supermarket’s shelves.”

Director of Hero Supermarket, Hendy said, “Hero Supermarket is delighted to have partnered up with the Global Seafood Alliance. As a trusted modern retail company that has been operating and growing in Indonesia for over 52 years, Hero Supermarket is continuously improving its services and offering a wide selection of quality products.
