GAA Co-Hosting 2015 China International Aquatic Products Exposition

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) is proud to announce that it is co-hosting the 2015 China International Aquatic Products Exposition at the Zhanjiang International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Zhanjiang, China, from June 18 to 20, 2015.

zhanjiangexpoThe exposition is organized by the China Aquatic Production Chamber of Commerce (APCC). Co-hosting along with GAA are the China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance (CAPPMA), Zhanjiang Aquatic Production Chamber of Commerce, Zhanjiang Association of Aquatic Products Import and Export, and Zhanjiang Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance.

APCC co-hosted GAA’s GOAL conference in 2008 in Qingdao, China, and boasts many regional branches and members in China’s aquaculture production hubs. Zhanjiang, China’s “Capital of Shrimp,” with many leading shrimp processors and suppliers, is an ideal home for the expo.

GAA also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with co-organizer CAPPMA in June 2014. The two organizations and their members are working collaboratively to advance responsible aquaculture through the Best Aquaculture Practices third-party certification program in China and globally through the exchange of information and participation in each other’s conferences and forums.

“The expo in Zhanjiang has the potential to become a major buying and selling event for Chinese shrimp and tilapia products since Zhanjiang and the surrounding area is home to many suppliers of those products,” said Jane Bi, market development manager for Asia for GAA’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) division. More than 300 companies are expected to exhibit, covering 10,000 square meters of exhibit space. Buyers from around the world, including North America and Europe, are expected to attend. In total, about 20,000 people are expected to attend.

The theme of this year’s exposition is “Aquatic product, making our lives more beautiful.” Zhanjiang is one of China’s major seafood and aquaculture hubs.

A number of activities will take place in conjunction with the exposition, including the China Cold Chain Logistics Forum and a chefs’ competition.
