A collaboration between Viet-Uc Seafood Corporation and CSIRO of Australia develops improvements in super-intensive indoor shrimp farming technology.

The explosive growth of shrimp farming has long been associated with mangrove deforestation in Southeast Asia. A silvofishery method of producing the popular seafood is protecting the fragile ecosystems in Vietnam. A hungry marketplace is reaping the rewards. 

A feeding trial incorporated corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) as an energy and protein source in starter and grower diets for pangasius. Results showed excellent fish growth performance, and no negative effects on mortality, fillet yield or fillet color. 

In 2012, samples collected from 92 AHPNS-affected ponds in the Mekong Delta found a number of Vibrio isolates, with the majority V. parahaemolyticus. 

While most marine aquaculture in Vietnam has been based on traditional small-scale cage operations in protected locations, the development of larger offshore cage systems could lead to industry expansion. 

Authors developed a lexicon of sensory properties for pangasius fillets and examined the sensory characteristics of raw fresh and frozen catfish fillets as predictors of the sensory qualities of cooked catfish. 

Spiny lobsters have a long, complex life cycle. Growing them through larval stages is a particular challenge. Spiny lobster culture is currently centered in Vietnam, where the industry depends on wild-caught animals for stocking and trash fish for feeding. 

With a range of positive attributes, pangasius has become one of the largest aquaculture commodity products in the world. The fast-growing fish resist low dissolved oxygen at high stocking densities and require little fishmeal in diets. 

Haiphong province is one of the main shrimp culture areas in northern Vietnam. Its climate is influenced by two monsoon regimes.
