AFDF’s Julie Decker, ASMI’s Hannah Lindoff Join GSA’s Board of Directors

The Global Seafood Alliance is pleased to announce that Julie Decker, executive director of the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF), and Hannah Lindoff, senior director of global marketing and strategy for the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI), have joined its board of directors, effectively immediately.

“We’re delighted by the addition of both Julie and Hannah to the GSA board of directors,” said GSA CEO Brian Perkins. “They come with a wealth of knowledge in commercial fishing, seafood processing, business development and marketing that will serve our board well.”

Julie Decker, Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation

Decker has been executive director of AFDF, a nonprofit organization that represents Alaska’s seafood industry in the areas of research and development, since 2014. She has 30 years of experience in Alaska’s seafood industry. Her family owns and operates a commercial fishing vessel in Southeast Alaska. She worked as a part of the executive management team in Alaska that converted a salmon cannery into a fresh and frozen salmon processing facility in the mid-2000s. She was also the executive director of the Southeast Alaska Regional Dive Fisheries Association, helping its members grow their annual ex-vessel value by more than threefold in her time.

Decker has a BA from Northwestern University and an MPA with a concentration in natural resource policy from the University of Alaska Southeast. She has also served on numerous boards and committees.

“I am looking forward to serving on the GSA board. The Alaska seafood industry has a lot of aligned interests with the global seafood industry, and working together we can make further progress than working separately. I intend to share the good work we’re doing in Alaska as well as learn from the good work that others are doing,” said Decker.

Hannah Lindoff
Hannah Lindoff, Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute

Lindoff has been senior director of global marketing and strategy, a new position at ASMI established with a focus on agency-wide initiatives, since 2020. She remains the director of ASMI’s international program. She has been with the organization since 2008, first acting as the European marketing specialist. ASMI is a public-private economic development partnership between the state of Alaska and Alaska’s seafood industry. Lindoff has a BA from the University of Mary Washington and an MFA from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

“It’s always an honor to represent Alaska, and I’m excited to do so on the GSA board. It is my hope that the collaboration between RFM and GSA can help the RFM program gain further market reach and reduce costs for the Alaska seafood industry, its markets and those who love to eat Alaska seafood,” said Lindoff.

Decker and Lindoff replace Nelson Griffin, formerly of Red Lobster Seafood Co., and Jeff Sedacca of Sterling Caviar on GSA’s 24-member board of directors. Griffin’s and Sedacca’s terms on the board had expired.

“We thank both Nelson and Jeff for their contributions to GSA as it has grown and evolved over the years,” said Perkins.

The additions of Decker and Lindoff to the GSA board came soon after GSA and the Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) Certification program announced an agreement in which the two non-profit organizations will work together to grow demand for healthy, responsibly sourced seafood.
